MISCELLANEOUS PRODUCTS

BETAINE HCl
The much whispered about Betaine HCl is closely related to the amino acid glycine.
It is a naturally occurring substance that is present in minute quantities in plants, yeasts, fungi and in the flesh of fish, crustaceans and molluscs.
Its potential as a natural attractor has long been recognised in the world of fish nutrition and as such it is present in many commercially available fish diets.
Betaine Hydrochloride (HCl) can be used to great effect in any type of base mix and will combine superbly with a wide variety of flavours, essential oils and cajousers. This is without doubt one of the most effective additives we have ever used. It is probably amongst the finest attractors of all time.
Here at Llyn y gors our regular anglers also use this as one of their permanent additions to their recipes.

50 g TUB - £7.95

ISO-EUGENOL

Iso-Eugenol is actually a natural extract of cloves, but cannot really be classed as an oil. It does thicken slightly in colder temperatures, so we would recommend an emulsifier for winter use. A very effective additive for short term, high attract baits.

25 ml BOTTLE - £3.50

AROUSER

This is a liquid blend of herb and spice extracts in a very, very concentrated form. Makes a classic combination with Cajouser, the two of them together having been the basis of the attractor source in a great many successful carp baits.
Arouser can be used on its own, or as a back-up to flavour or oils, but you need very little of it in a bait. As the main smell, a quarter of a ml is the absolute maximum, with even less needed when it is used as a back-up.

25 ml BOTTLE - £1.80

EMULSIFIER

When we looked at emusifiers they made us a bit unhappy. Some of them had a skull and crossbones by the side of their name, which is bad news by any standards - some of those in common use at that! We wanted an emulsifier that was not only safe, but if possible nutritious too. In the end, we found one - and this is it. An extremely well-known product. Stunning in its simplicity, slightly sweet, very palatable, and nutritional in the form which we make it.

SWEETENER

The Sweetener is human food grade. This is an ideal addition to 50/50 Mix. The effectiveness of sweetness in this type of mix is well-known.

50 ml BOTTLE - £1.80

CAJOLER POWDER

Cajoler has a lovely creamy smell to it and is one of the enhancers we use in the EnerVite Mix.

50 g TUB - £2.75

n-BUTYRIC ACID

Arguably the most antisocial carp bait smell of the lot, and undoubtedly one of the most effective. It's revolting. We would prefer if you didn't buy this product to save our long-suffering Ginger Whinger the aggravation of bottling more of it. Jan (BSc, MITI, MIL) [aka Roger's wife] from Llyn y gors says it's used as a vehicle for releasing flavours into the overall composition of the mix. In our opinion, it brings the flavour to the forefront of the bait. At Llyn y gors we have experimented with n-Butyric Acid [C3H7COOH] for a number of years, and Roger uses it as the mainstay of most of his mixes.

20 ml BOTTLE - £3.50

PRESERVABAIT
EXTENDING THE POSSIBILITIES

Developed for Nutrabaits by Ken Townley. Ken spends a great deal of his time fishing on the Continent and this, coupled with his vast knowledge of bait, made him the ideal person to develop a perfectly safe yet effective additive for us. We weren't disappointed.
Three years on, here it is, a delicate blend of products that combine to produce the ultimate shelf life additive. A quick tip about storing finished baits - keeping baits in either cardboard boxes, hessian sacks or some other form of breathable container is preferable to keeping them in polythene bags which make baits sweat.

500 ml BOTTLE - £10.60
