Crucian Carp
Crucian Carp are present in The Pleasure Lake although
very rarely seen but do show well in Reed Lake where specimens over
2lb have been caught in 2010.. The Crucian species are an incredibly
delicate feeder and ultra sensitive to noise or disruption.
A scaled down setup is required to tempt or even see
a bite. Modern heavy tactics with larger hooks and bigger baits popular
on today's modern commercial venues are simply too crude and overpowering
for this species and will result in a lack of Crucian Carp being banked.
A fine bristle pole float shotted right down a light
line and small hooks should be used but you do run the risk of connecting
with other Carp species which will quickly bully the Crucians off of
a baited area. The Crucians thus show far more in Reed Lake given the
absense of any other species of carp.
