Thompson's Pool has now matured into a beautifully secluded landscape full of wildlife since its opening on the 1st of May 2002. It holds over 51 carp - mostly in the 20 lb to 35 lb+ range - and 2 cats at around 33lb. But because these fish have a whole 2 and a half acres to themselves and the lake is rich in all sorts of natural food, it is estimated that we will soon be seeing forty pounders, especially since some of the fish are only 4 to 5 years and are a fast-growing strain. There are only eight swims on the lake, and only two rods per angler. This also applies to residents in the Cottages and on the Camp Site - swims have to be booked separately in advance and are not included in the fishing/restocking fee.

The record carp on Thompson's Pool is currently a 35lb Mirror 2oz caught by Anthony Davies in May 2004

 

The record for a catfish on Thompson's Pool is currently 32lb 11 oz and is held by Joe Newby

 

Barbecues are also placed around various swims. Please refrain from using the disposable barbecues as they are a fire hazard!! Charcoal and Fire Lighters etc are available from the tackle shop. Burgers,sausages etc are also available so you don't get hungry!!
