LLYN Y GORS

LANDS MASSIVE EVENT FOR WALES!!

Exciting news of a major national carp-angling tournament to be staged in Wales has just broken. The launch of the Wales Carp Masters, a competition with 25 heats leading to a televised Final to take place at Celtic Lakes in Lampeter in September.

Llyn Y Gors Anglesey was one of the five official venues to be selected for this tournament, and its owner Kevin Coe had this to say "We are delighted to have been chosen to host such a prestigious event. The impact of this event locally will be fantastic as the event is televised and will attract some high profile anglers. We look forward to playing our part to ensure that both the local area and Wales benefit from this exciting opportunity"

It is perhaps appropriate, that the Wales Carp Masters launch is timed to coincide with St David's Day, as a fitting tribute to the occasion with a celebration of the coming together of the people of Wales.

Supported by the Fishing Wales, Regional Tourism Partnerships and The Environment Agency Wales, the tournament is an officially recognized celebration of the nation's superb angling. As an open tournament, the event aims to be socially inclusive, welcoming competitors from within Wales and from all over the world. Also, it seeks to encourage participation from the young angler, or disabled angler, and the importance of inclusiveness is paramount to its ethos.

As an addition to this all-encompassing event, basic introductory level tuition in angling will be conducted by, qualified coaches of the Environment Agency Wales at each of the venues. It is hoped that this event, this will further boost the profile and popularity of angling within Wales, and provide a fine opportunity to reach out to the prospective future generations of Welsh anglers.

With a total prize table of £20,001, with the first prize being £10,001 in cash, the Wales Carp Masters is the biggest carp-angling event currently being held, not just in Wales, but the entire UK.

HOW IT WORKS

The format of the event is a pair's competition, where any two anglers may enter, and fish together as a pair. The entry fee is offered at the amazing price of just £60 per angler, and will provide 40 hours of angling at any of the official event venues on the dates specified.

The venues selected for the inaugural Wales Carp Masters, Peterstone Fisheries, Gweryd Lakes, Celtic Lakes Resort, White Springs, Llyn-y-Gors fisheries, are among the finest in Wales, and will showcase the potential for Welsh carp angling to the world via sky TV, who will be covering the event fully.

These venues are both varied and widespread, and all offer the discerning carp angler a marvelous quality of fishing. The venue chosen for the final itself is the new multi million pound facility at Celtic Lakes Resort in Lampeter, and will provide a unique and fitting finale to the celebrations.

Event organizers Ross Honey, founder of the World Carp Classic, and Peter Hands, former board director from the Wales Tourist Board, have formed a partnership to work alongside the Visit Wales Regional Tourism Partnerships and The Environment Agency Wales to plan the staging of this fantastic event. "We are looking forward to working together on this exciting competition and making it a prestigious annual event in Wales" said Peter Hands. Rhys Llywelyn, Fishing Wales marketing Officer said, "We are proud to support such a massive event, this will show what fantastic carp fishing we have in Wales."
