PIKE FISHING AT LLYN Y GORS |
Pike were first introduced into the Carp Lake in November 1999, the twenty fish of around 7 lb were the solution to the problem of overpopulation of roach in the lake. The following winter a further ten pike to 14 lb were introduced. When anglers asked to target these fish during the colder months, we were surprised to see some fish during 2001 had reached 18 lb. Subsequently, the high numbers of prey fish have also allowed the pike to breed successfully and the lake now supports a healthy stock of small pike which will grow on and produce quality pike fishing on the venue. The biggest known to date is 21 lb. Pictured below is Eifion Parry with his stunning personal best.
Here's local angler Mark Dolben with his catch. A lovely fish of 18 lb plus.
Basic pike tackle (wire traces, pike bungs and floats etc.) is available in the Tackle Shop, as well as frozen sea dead-baits. Please remember that treble hooks are banned!!.
Day tickets for pike fishing are £15.00, while the price for a 24-hour session is £25. Booking is essential. Some of the swims around the lake are designed to take 2-man bivvies, and we have toilets and a shower on site. For the less hardy, why not bring your own caravan on to our Camping Field, or take advantage of our well-appointed Self-Catering Cottages.
