PRESS WEEK ON THE CARP LAKE EXTENSION
AT LLYN Y GORS
WHERE FISHING DREAMS COME TRUE
The week before the lake opened to the public on May 1st 2002 we held a press week to which members of the angling press were invited, along with some of the Llyn y gors carp anglers as a thank you for all their efforts helping us over the past six months. Fears that the fish might be sulking in their new home were soon allayed, when Simon made the first cast from The Nightmare and had a 20 pounder on within 4 minutes! Not to be outdone, later in the evening Darren had a fish out of The Aquarium after his line had been in the water for only 2 minutes! It wasn't all that easy though, Jan [yes, you read that correctly - Jan] in The Double Bay and Joe in The Broken Track blanked, but they were in good company because Rob Hughes in The Rock did as well. Derek managed his personal best - a 20 lb mirror - from The Well, while Mark in The Barbecue Corner has a run, but ignored it because he thought someone was trying to wind him up. Roger, also in The Double Bay, decided to wait until Colin Davidson turned up, and then impressed him by landing the current lake record [well I suppose the owner has to be the first to hold the record] - a mirror of 22 lb. Make no mistake, that will soon be broken. In total, 10 twenty pounders came out over the week. The fish are now resting until !st May.
