July has again started off well, with excellent catches of fish across the complex.
On the Match lake catches of over 100 fish in a session are still a regular occurrence, again as last month 4 & 6mm expanders, sweetcorn, pellet and maggots are all catching fish. We have even had a few of the koi come out that were stocked two years ago. Fishing the pole to the island dead depth has worked well with The Method Feeder also catching it's fair share, however don't dismiss the waggler on here .
Over on the Pleasure lake the fishing has been excellent for all species. With most people fishing for the large head of carp in here, it is hardly surprising that there have been a lot caught. For those fishing for other species the catches of crucians, Bream and Silvers have been excellent and although the Tench fishing has not been prolific there have been some good Tench out to almost 5lb. We have also had a 2lb+ Perch caught on this lake in june. Corn, expanders pellets and 10mm boilies have been working well. Maggots can also fish well but you would need to get through the smaller fish to reach the Specimens.
The Old Lake went through a very quiet spell mid June due to the hot spell with most carp preferring to sunbath rather than feed. Since then they have started picking up pace with all swims on the lake producing Carp. Solid Bags, Zigs and bottom baits have all caught fish with CC Moore XXX Odyssey working well. The Catfish have had a good showing again through June coming out to over 37lb with 4 recorded over 30lbs. Chicken Liver, Luncheon meat, Pellets and boillies have all caught well.
The Karpium is still throwing out large catches of carp since the initial stocking in April for those who choose to fish it. Although the carp here are only up to 11lbs they are growing rapidly and multiple catches are being caught regularly. This is the perfect lake on the complex for those who like the excitement of multiple carp catches. All baits have been working well with the staff here at Llyn y Gors using plastic corn to good effect over the past week.
One thing to note these Carp are extremely hard fighting and feel much bigger when hooked than they actually are!.

Latest stockingWe recently drained the Karpium for general maintenance, while this is drained are now restocking the lake with over 180 carp, ranging from 5lb to 11lb, a perfect runs water, as you can seen from the pictures to the right they are stunning looking fish, and we can't wait for the results.

We have been very busy here at Llyn-y-Gors, with work being undertaken around the lakes to improve the air flow , this in turn will help oxygenate the water and become less stagnate. We also drained Thompsons and the Karpium and have had a fantastic result with 34 fish ranging from 10lb + to 23lb 8oz being stocked into the Old carp lake , we also have 80+ fish going into the Old Lake around October time, this will increase the stock intensely and improve the fishing. We have decided to make Thompsons and The Old Carp lake into one lake, this will be better for the fishery and the stock

With another year gone there were some great catches in 2016 and it was nice to see the old Carp Lake being fished more and more, with the extra stock going in late 2016, early 2017 we predict the Old carp Lake will get fished a lot more in the future.
