LLYN Y GORS PAIRS
MATCH
WHERE FISHING DREAMS COME
TRUE
The annual Llyn y gors pairs match was held over the weekend of 27th and
28th October in exceptionally mild and sunny conditions, with 11 teams of
two anglers finally taking part. On the Saturday one angler from each team
drew a peg to fish the
Pleasure Lake while
his partner drew a peg to fish the
Match Lake. On the Sunday
the anglers swapped lakes, but drew new pegs for each lake.
Although the weather was warm and sunny, the fishing got off to a slow start
because the temperature had dropped the previous night. Plenty of fish could
be seen in the swims, but tempting them to feed was the problem!. At the
end of the first day Terry Pendlebury and Terry Windsor were in the lead,
with Keith Bean and Dave Artell not far behind and Charlie Wilkinson and
Kelvin Cotton a close third.
After Saturdays matches a barbecue was laid on for the anglers, with plenty
of ale and Coke to wash down the sausages and burgers.
The weather on the Sunday was much the same, but most of the anglers who
had struggled on Saturday weighed in reasonable bags. Bryn Roberts and John
Hughes weighed in the heaviest combined total of the day, with Paul Jones
and Damian McCeaveney a close second and Llion Pritchard and Mark Hill third.
However, the 35 lb 12 oz weihed in by the two Terrys was enough to take them
to first place with the heaviest combined weight over the weekend.
Prizes were collected by the winning pair overall, 1st, 2nd and 3rd individual
anglers on each lake on each day and section winners.
