  • Frequently Asked Questions
We have decided to do a FAQ page due to the amount of repeated question and enquiries we get asked on a regular basis.

Q: What is the best swim ?

A: We don’t believe there is a “best swim” as such on any lake, we advise every angler to walk around the lake and simply find the fish, this is reflected on any lake around the country.

Q: Can we book a group of swims together ?

A: We don’t book specific swim, you only book a space on the lake. We also recommend anglers spread around the lake, as fishing close together can seriously impact your catch rate.

Q: Can we drive to the swim ?

A: No you can’t drive to the swim, there is no access for vehicles to any of the lakes.

Q: How big are the fish ?

A: The Old carp lake record for carp is 35lb, the lake record for catfish is 48lb.+

Q: How many carp are in the specimen lakes ?

A: The Karpium is around an acre in size and has approx 200 carp. The Old lake is approx 4.5-5 acres and has around 250 carp plus catfish.

Q: Can you just turn up on the specimen lakes ?

A: You can , however there is a possibility there will be no space available due to the limit on the amount of swims. Booking over the phone would be preferred with a 50% deposit also being taken.

Q: What’s the best bait and rig ?

A: With regards to bait, any branded quality bait is fine, rigs can differ as this depends on what swim you choose. Please refrain from bringing lesser branded boilies such as supermarket own etc , as these will not be allowed.

Q: Can we light a fire ?

A: Absolutely not, anyone caught doing so will be asked to leave.

Q: What time can I arrive ?

A: On the specimen lakes we have an arrival time of 1pm, and vacate the swims by 1pm on the day of leaving.

Q: Can I bring my dog ?

A: Unfortunately you can not bring your dog.

Q: Can I bring a partner with me ?

A: Yes you can, however this is a £5 per night and a maximum of one person per angler, and no visiting guests to enter the lakes.
